No more ‘booth babes’ at tech shows
International tech trade shows are going to come down hard on scantily dressed models who operate the booths. Better known as ‘booth babes’, these women are made to wear bikinis, short-shorts or mini dresses, while others have come dressed in tight leather outfits or costumes to resemble Cat Woman, Xena the warrior princess, and Star Wars’ Princess Leia in a gold bikini and sometimes just daubed in paint with nothing else on.
These models are used to attract the attention of visitors and entice them to visit the these booths. However, critics are claiming that this practice must stop.
RSA, which hosts the world’s largest security conference, announced last week it’s banning scantily clad dress — for women and men — at its five-day trade show in San Francisco next month.
