Project Slingshot facilitates SLIIT students to work at Hemas
The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) signed an agreement with Hemas Holding to provide opportunities for the institute’s students to take their final year projects to a next level through a programme named ‘Slingshot’.
Each year, the final year students complete more than 100 projects, either individually or in groups. SLIIT will accordingly select promising projects led by students with ability, skills and propensity to innovate and introduce them to the Hemas team.
As a pilot project, Hemas has already funded the venture ‘pulz solutions’ done by a group of students at SLIIT. Pulz solutions is a company which has introduced successive prototypes to remotely monitor Critical Health values of patients experiencing non-communicable diseases like heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.
One such product is ‘Panacea’s Medi-Belt’, a wearable electronic jacket which tracks and monitors critical health reading like the heart rate and pulse rate, through a mobile application via Bluetooth.
