DOTA 2 Championship Kicks off in a Week

The fifth DOTA 2 International Championships is set to start off  from August 3-8 at the Seattle Center. This is the most lucrative e-sports tournament yet, with a prize pool of over $17 million and promises to fill up the Internet with non-stop multiplayer base battles and perhaps lead to the wanton destruction of dozens of computer mouses.

While the tournament is still a week away, there are already nearly 5,000 people tuned in to the placeholder stream for the event. All that is showing is an animated logo, but there is still a lot of action on the comments section of the stream. This is pretty indicative of the obsessive following the game has.

The first bit of action will on Sunday at 9am Pacific Time with preliminary Wild Card games while the group stages will begin on Monday.
