FB Like Button gets Some Company of Emojis
Facebook this week finally rolled out a new set of ‘Reactions’ for its users when responding to posts in their News Feeds.
There are now six ‘Reactions’ which include Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry which you will find in addition to the standard Like button. The new emojis are designed to pop up when scrolling over the Like button, allowing users to make more nuanced responses to posts rather than simply clicking on ‘Like’.
FB says that they launched the new ‘Reactions’, an extension of the Like button, after considering people’s requests in order to give users more ways to share their reaction to a post in a quick and easy way. However, despite many of its users’ request, the company has expressed no plans to introduce a ‘dislike’ button.
FB has been testing alternatives to ‘Like’ in several countries, including Ireland, Spain and Japan. On Wednesday, FB started making the new options available in the US and the rest of the world. The rollout is expected to take a few days to complete – once it’s done, you will get the feature automatically on Web browsers – but iPhone and Android users will need to update your app on your device to experience the new ‘Reactions’.
