Gamer.lk Announces SLCG & Comic Con 2016

As the nation’s biggest gaming and geek festival is set to commence in December for a three day fest, cyber athletes, casual gamers and comic fans will come together to battle it out at these two sensational events held at the BMICH in Colombo.

 

Electronic sports (eSports) is no stranger to the Sri Lankan youth as this tournament is being held for the 9th consecutive year with roughly four million competitive gamers in the country. Sri Lankan Cyber Games (SLCG) this year is expecting 2500 participants island wide, qualifiers from Galle, Jaffna and Kandy will be brought to Colombo to battle it out at the eSports grand finale to be crowned the best cyber athlete and team in the country.

 

The eSports and video game tournament festival is organised by Gamer.lk and will be held on the 9th, 10th and 11th of December 2016.

 

SLCG 2016 features the most popular online multiplayer gaming titles in Sri Lanka; Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Dota 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Call of Duty: Advance Warfare as well as single player gaming titles such as Mortal Kombat: XL, FIFA 16, Project Cars as official titles. In addition, newer titles such as Overwatch and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 are featured as promotional titles with Ingress, Clash Royale and Rider Rush by Honda being played as the mobile game titles at SLCG 2016.

 

This event is the biggest in the country for gaming culture and is expected to have 20000 attendees over the three days and 10 game titles. Dialog gaming service being the fastest gaming service providers in the nation will live broadcast the event in partnership with thepapare.com

 

Simultaneously with the eSports championship, the Colombo Comic Con which is organised in partnership of Gamer.lk and PRUVE Comics, will be held for the 2nd consecutive year on the 10th and 11th of December at the same venue. It will feature a schedule of unique events designed especially for comic books and anime fanatics which includes, Sri Lankan art, film, Cosplay and geek culture throughout the 2 days of the event. Colombo Comic Con is the final event in a series, with the Kandy Comic Con being held in November at the Kandy City Center.

 

Panel discussions with the “Aluko Udapadi” cast, discussing local cinema and their experience of putting the movie together, followed by the team of “The Tale of Chaste” animation series, PRUVE and the team of Arimac Lanka who will also be discussing game development and their game “kanchayudha” which releases next month.

 

Additionally, there will be cosplay and laser tag competitions with many other exciting activities which promise to enthrall various audiences. Cosplay being the most colorful part of the event, will hold a ramp walk crowning the islands best cosplayer as attendees bring their favorite characters to life.
