Acer APAC Predator League 2018 kicks off in Jakarta
The 3-day APAC Predator League 2018 kicked off in Jakarta Indonesia today. Hosted by Acer, this eSports competition is considered the largest international tournament in the Asia Pacific with a total prize pool of USD 150,000 and the much coveted Predator Shield.
“Acer is proud to be hosting the APAC Predator League 2018 tournament this year. For the next three days, we will see the skill, cohesiveness and passion of the best eSport talents from around the Asia Pacific region,” said Herbet Ang, president director of Acer Indonesia. “We look forward to seeing the excitement that will unfold at the tournament and wish each of the teams the best of luck.”
The tournament which attracted around 1200 eSports teams from across the region has finalized teams from eight countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Sri Lanka. The finals will be held on Sunday January 21 at the Taman Anggrek Mall in Jakarta.
The Sri Lanka team, “We Say NO!” comprises Sathan, AB, Beaver, Nightblade and Spades, all of whom are well-known in the gaming community as hardcore fighters and tough contenders. At a press conference held this morning, team captain, Shenal Daniels aka AB said, “We come in to this tournament as underdogs, but we are ready to fight a tough battle and leave the impression that Sri Lanka has a gaming community that is good enough to fight in the big league.”
The other teams taking part are Quid Pro Quo (Philippines), Geek Fam (Malaysia), Alpha Red (Thailand), Ten Twenty (Singapore), Azure (Hong Kong), and Signify (India).
